MOTTO
MOTTO Handroll Bar
Opening Production, PR & Creative Direction
MOTTO was imagined as more than a restaurant opening. The objective was to create a room people would talk about: intimate, cinematic, energetic, and deeply rooted in experience.
Located in Montréal’s Old Port, the concept draws from the precision of Japanese handroll culture while translating it through a more editorial and contemporary lens. Fast-paced but intentional. Refined without feeling inaccessible.
From the beginning, the goal was for MOTTO to feel embedded within Montréal culture rather than simply exist as another restaurant opening. We wanted it to become part of the city’s rhythm, tied to conversations, nights out, creative communities, and Montréal’s evolving hospitality scene.
Casa del Somi led the opening production and overall guest experience surrounding the launch, overseeing creative direction, PR strategy, guest list management, run-of-show, on-site production, content capture, influencer and media relations, along with the overall atmosphere and flow of the experience from arrival to final seating.
From the lighting and pacing of the room to the guest arrival, cocktail experience, and visual storytelling, every detail was designed to feel immersive yet effortless.
The launch brought together Montréal’s hospitality, fashion, and creative communities for a two-night opening centered around handroll service, curated cocktails, and direct chef-to-guest interaction.
Rather than overproducing the experience, the focus was placed on restraint, rhythm, and creating a space that felt alive. A room with movement, energy, and intention.
We set the table. The city did the talking.
